Its heavy monsoon in Kerala right now. If you are planning for Munnar, its better to wait for atleast 2-3 weeks or till the heavy rains are over.

If you’re traveling with friends from Chennai, Munnar is actually a good option for a weekend. I visited recently, and it felt safe and peaceful. Roads were fine, locals were friendly, and the weather was pleasant, especially in the mornings and evenings. Just avoid late-night driving in the ghat sections and check weather updates before leaving. Other good weekend options with friends in South India from Chennai are: • Yercaud – calm, budget-friendly, and perfect for a short trip • Wayanad – great for nature, waterfalls, and homestays • Pondicherry – beach vibes, cafés, and nightlife • Coorg – scenic views and relaxed stays If you want greenery and a relaxed vibe, go for Munnar. If you want fun and cafés, Pondicherry works best. Plan early and you’ll have a great trip.
