1 Book your air tickets in advance like 2-3 months. I
This is always the trick for cheap tickets and look for any available discounts on credit cards
2 Book a car in advance there, because places to visit there are little far away and its better to have a local person with you who will guide you also.
3 You will find many beautiful reasonable resorts in Northeast when you sea online.. One of my favourites was Cherry Village Resort, in Pelling.. It was super cheap and the staff offered to take you on a nearby short trek on their own.. It was amazing.. and they offer homemade Indian food also.
4 I covered following during my span - Gangtok, Darjelling, Pelling, Tsongo Lake.
And also dont go for toy train in darjelling.. Its not that good now and has lost its charm because you see pile of garbages all around as darjelling is more commercialised now.. and I think you can skip darjelling from your itinerary...try to cover small villages in northeast because all beauty li
