Hey Arvind, The best way to reach nainital is taking a train from rohini sector 4 in delhi ... take a night train after 8 which reaches nainital by 6 in the morning ... thats the best and easy and also affordable way ... you need to take a metro to delhi and from there board the train ... The places you can visit and things to do in Nainital are as follows.... 1. Boating:- You can go on a boat ride in Gondola boat or pedal boat for 210 and 150 rupees per hour respectively. See that it close by 6pm. 2. Shopping:- If you are a shopaholic then you can roam around in mall road for hours shop after shop. 3. Raj Bhavan:- It's free and easy to hop around Governors house and enjoy the Gothic style of architecture which resembles Buckingham palace of England. 4. Naini Devi temple:- This is a well known Shakthi peeths of Hindu religion and is open for people till 10 pm. 5. Eco cave gardens:- These cave gardens close by 5.30 pm, so if you can make yourself free for half an hour more you can cover this place also. And now its a best time in the year to visit Nainital ... Happy Travelling Bro!!!

I recommend bus as it is convenience and affordble too approx.600 Per/Person and there is no direct train to nainital. Most important thing the bus take 6 hrs.while train takes approx.11h(Including bus journey).

Take Volvo bus from Delhi ISBT, it will drop you directly at Nainital. the overnight train is also an option (which we had opted in last November) but it drop you at Kathgodam railway station and from there taxis charge around 700₹ to drop at Nainital. bus option would be available there maybe.
