Hey Sushant, I was there in Spiti in August first week and it was fine at night. Only camps in Batal and Chandertal were cold enough to give me a shiver one night. I would recommend you to have one down jacket with you which would suffice all your cold night needs to keep you warm. And also pair of woollen gloves for night with a pair of woollen socks would be an add on advantage. Happy riding and Happy travelling bro!!!
September is a great time to visit Spiti. I went last September and the Temperature at Chandrataal was below 3 degrees. Make sure you pack all your winter wear. The temperature would be 10 degrees or below for most of the time.
Hi Sushant, as the winters are approaching the weather will be a bit colder from September end. In day it will be pleasant but the nights will be colder especially at Chandrataal. The autumn season make Spiti absolutely colorful with lush green trees, orange leaves, aqua clean waters and white snow in the background, making the valley, a beauty. The mornings and evenings are quite cold with temperatures going to 2-3 degree Celsius while the days are pleasant. Do not forget to pack woolens. If you are a snow-lover, this might not be an ideal time for you. Try to confirm the weather conditions before making plans as sometimes Kunzum pass starts getting snow as early as September.
Spiti, like Ladakh, is a dry cold desert that sees close to no rains, even during the monsoon season. However, the approach roads from the Shimla side see quite a bit of rain leading to patchy road conditions. You will also need to cross some water crossings especially at the stretch between Batal and Gramphoo. The valley shrouds itself in beautiful autumn colours of brown and burnt orange, that make the place even more stunning. The days are pleasant and the nights cool, perfect to enjoy the charm of the valley. Duration of monsoon: Months of July till September are considered to be the monsoon months in Spiti. Average temperature: The average temperatures range between 10°C (daytime) to 4°C (night).
