I've solo travelled only to North and it's safe. You can can pick any place you want to go to. You can go for treks, camping and weekend trips.

I have tried to capture all the challenges which one might face on a solo trip. I have also listed the ways in which you can make solo trips more enjoyable. I personally found Pushkar and Mcleodganj good for solo trips, especially for the starters- 1.

Hey Aastha, When it comes to travelling solo i dont think there comes a gender difference as both male and female travelers face issues ... All you need to be is cautious and have a sheet common and present sense whenever you go, whomever you meet, whatever you do when you are traveling ... As a woman I would suggest you not to travel on nights ... if you have time crunch then it's better to travel in three tire AC coach in trains ... Some more points to keep in mind when traveling solo are ;- It gives you confidence, so be confident ... It gives you broad mind, do be open to the entire world in your travel .... It gives you happiness, just keep on savouring one after another .... So, it's all positive in Travelling if you are with your common sense befriending you all the time .... For night stays prefer hostels and zostels all the way through your travel ... Depend on everyone but beleive none .... Here are few solo trips and adventures of mine if you wanna read :-

If you are into history and indian architecture Hampi is best place to travel solo for female. Pondicherry is also a good option for beach lovers.
