Hi sushmita, if you are a snow lover than you should go for GULMARG. If you are nature lover and want peace and calmness than PAHALGAM. Both the places have their own charm.
If you are going for gulmarg, than do book gandola tickets for phase 1 and phase 2 necessarily online as you will find snow in phase 2 only..

From Srinagar Gulmarg is 2 hours ride. Gulmarg is a paradise in Kashmir, filled with so much of beauty, that May is an ideal time to visit Gulmarg. For snow starts to melt that you get to see lot of remains of snow, the chill weather blended with sun rays over all makes your day in Gulmarg very very memorable. From Srinagar Pahalgam is 3 hours away. May is called summer month, where you get to see touched of rains. Though weather turns slightly hot in Pahalgam, coolness spread is more that covers the raising heat. Even my suggestion would be Gulmarg for the distance and glimpse of snow.

Pahalgham is a better option during spring, it is also known as shepherd's paradise so I would suggest visiting pahalgham over gulmarg. but if you are interested in visiting gulmarg then you can do that to, the gondola experience at gulmarg is also worth visiting
