1. There is no direct train from Delhi to Rishikesh. You can go to Haridwar and from Haridwar you can go to Rishikesh.
2. By bus also you can travel. It takes around approx. 8 hrs to reach.

If you traveling from Delhi, then take Train to Haridwar. Stay there, next day take cab to Rishikesh for Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula and other places. If you want to experience some different things, then go for Bunjee Jumping and River Rafting
It'll be a life long experience for you..

Hey buddy, I was in rishikesh two weeks ago and I'm from Delhi too. I was with four of friends so we took train from Nizamuddin at 6 in the morning to Haridwar and we reached there by 2 o'clock. Then we roam around there and took an auto, which was cheep, in the evening to Rishikesh. Next day we did Rafting and roam around lakshman jhula and all. You can check my blog as well.

DELHI to HARIDWAR - by bus
HARIDWAR TO RISHIKESH-by auto or cab whatever you prefer.
You can visit temples and do river rafting and other sports
and spend one night near river thats the best.

If want to go Rishikesh by train then only a passenger is running between Old Delhi and Rishikesh. It costs only 55 Rs. approximately.
if want to go there by bus then you have two option, first one is go by state road transport corporation like UPSRTC, UTC. which costs 400-700 Rs. and if you want to go by private bus then it cost 350-800 Rs. or if you want cab then it costs 2500-3500 Rs.

U cn book a bus from delhi to rishikesh. or u cn travel through bike or by cab. or by flight u cn go to Dehradun 1st then to rishikesh

Best way to reach is Bus ( From Anand vihar bus terminal), Most of the activities is stopped by local authorities because there were so many illegal business grown in previous year. Please check with this local authorities. Regarding activities Rishikesh is famous for River Rafting, Laxman Jhulla and Bungee Jump.

Rishikesh is famous for adventure sports like river rafting. You can take bus from Delhi. It will take around 9-10 hours by bus.

There are many options to go to Rishikesh from Delhi. Trains and government Volvo's are there. for Volvo you have to go to Kashmiri gate. last Volvo is at 11:30pm
you have to pre-book the Volvo as it might not be available on the spot. I would suggest to go by overnight Volvo it will decrease your travelling time.
If you like adventures then you must try bungee jumping in Rishikesh
