This trip can be done on a weekend if you are flying to Vizag or reaching their early morning by train. A day is good enough to visit the beaches of Vishakhapatnam. The next day, you can take an early morning train to Araku which takes about three hours to reach. Spend half the day here and return to Vizag by evening by a train or bus. It'll take 2 days to complete vizag and araku valley. U can take early morning train to borra caves and spend upto 2 hrs. Thereafter u can take a road trip via taxi towards araku valley. The route is certainly a treat to the eyes. Also you can witness the local tribal culture. In the afternoon u can take the train from araku valley back to Vizag. Next day u can completely explore vizag beaches, simanchalam, kailash giri and many more.. Enjoy đź‘Ť

If you want to cover both Vizag and Araku Valley comfortably, I’d recommend 4 days. That gives you enough time to enjoy the beaches and city attractions in Vizag, plus the scenic train/road trip, coffee plantations, waterfalls, and viewpoints in Araku without rushing. A good plan would be: Day 1: Explore Vizag – RK Beach, Kailasagiri, Submarine Museum, Rushikonda Beach.
Day 2: Travel to Araku Valley (train is highly recommended for the tunnel and valley views). Visit Tribal Museum and Coffee Museum.
Day 3: Explore Araku – viewpoints, gardens, bamboo chicken, local spots, and nearby attractions like Borra Caves/Katiki Falls depending on time.
Day 4: Return to Vizag and relax or cover any missed places. If you’re short on time, 3 days can work, but it will feel rushed. If you want a relaxed trip with nearby hill spots too, go for 5 days. Personally, 4 days is the sweet spot for most travelers.

I know this is a long-standing question, but I wanted to provide some insights to help others understand the itinerary for the Vizag and Araku trips. It is not possible to cover both Vizag and Araku Valley in just two days, as someone mentioned earlier. Vizag itself takes almost two days to explore, and there are many hidden places in the area, not just RK Beach or Submarine Museum Beach. There are multiple beaches like Yarada Beach and several others worth visiting. Vizag also has beautiful parks and museums along the beach road. Additionally, Vizag is home to many famous temples, such as the Simhachalam Temple, SKML Temple, and the Sri Vinayaka Temple. If you can travel a bit further, you can even visit Annavaram, which is nearby. In Anakapalli, you can find the Ammavaru Temple. It really depends on what you are trying to cover—whether it’s a relaxing trip, a sightseeing trip, or a mix of both. Even if you plan to explore beaches, parks, museums, and the zoo, it's challenging to fit all of this into just two days. For a comprehensive visit, it would take about three to four days, depending on your relaxation preferences. Regarding Araku, similar to Vizag, Araku has many places to see. If you opt for a one-day trip, you will only be able to visit a limited number of attractions; with a two-day trip, you can cover a different set of locations and a three-day trip allows a fuller experience. A one-day trip can be quite hectic because if you leave by 7 AM (or even earlier at 6 AM), you can reach Borra or go directly to Araku Valley for local sightseeing, then on your return, you can visit the Borra Caves before heading back to Vizag. In just one day, it’s unrealistic to cover all locations, as each site typically takes about 1-2 hours to explore. Local sightseeing alone will require a full day. We also need to consider that Borra closes at 5:30 PM, so we need to plan accordingly. There’s a wonderful place called Katiki Waterfalls that we won’t be able to cover because just getting there requires around four hours of trekking. Therefore, two days would be the best option for visiting Araku, allowing you to see all the attractions before returning to Vizag. On a three-day trip, you could also include Vanajanigi, which is another great location. This would require a different itinerary, starting from Vizag to Vanajanigi, then to Araku, and back to Vizag, which would include a few more locations. For transportation, using cabs would be the best and easiest option. If you are traveling with family, consider packages that offer a stress-free experience, allowing you to move around freely and relax. In total, a five-day trip (three days for Vizag and two days for ArakuTrip.in ) would provide the best experience to enjoy and rejuvenate your soul.
