Hi Ashupriya! If you're looking for a winter trek, January to March are the best months for it. In this season, the whole region is blanketed in snow. Accommodation options become slightly limited. The minimum average temperature varies from 6-12 degree while the maximum may go upto 15-20 degrees. The trek is most beautiful during these months, specially if you're looking to admire the scenic beauty of the Himalayas. You can check out these trips for more personalized information! Happy Trekking!
If you are ready for adventure.. with a bit of danger. Then of course u can.. But let me tell you.. I went there in Feb 2019, and that was obviously an off season.. The place was quite deserted which is nice in a way if u dont want to be surrounded with so many people and enjoy ur stay.. Till Deorital lake.. the trek is fine... but at top.. it's a lot of snow.. and it's quite slippery.. U definitely CAN'T go all the way from Deoriatal lake to chopta.. by trek.. (16 kms approx).. becuz at this point of year... it's impossible.. well if u can risk it.. u can we were advised that. it's not safe and we should not go there. at all but we still did. and let me tell you honestly.. We were a group of 4 boys. and we were the only one there at that time.. there is no path.. at all.. the path is all covered in 3-4 feet of Snow.. I was literally.. into the snow. till my waist.. and I had to.. walk.. very carefully.. and when we could actually see the tungnath temple.. It started snowing heavily. and we had to get back.. becz in case of a snow storm.. up there.. we could have died (lol) at this time there is no shop.. no nothing.. at the top and even in the way.. so u should try.. if u want adventure.. yes..its a experience worth remembering it's survival.. it was lovely.. but I would suggest you to go in March..
Hi, Ashupriya!
Yes, it is a famous snow trek, but do check the weather conditions before you go. You wouldn't want to end up being there in a snow storm. Although this trek is not a lengthy one, but make sure you do carry proper clothes with you and deep- treaded trekking shoes as it can get slippery.
