If you are planning to visit any hill-station then Wayanad is a perfect place to go. It has plenty of places to visit and lots of activities to do. Few best places to visit in Wayanad are Banasura Dam : This is a naturally formed dam. Outlook of the lake is just amazing. It is a perfect photographic spot. You are allowed to perform few water activities there. If you like to do some adventure you can indulge in trekking activities. Its not so safe for old people. Edakkal Caves : In Edakkal Caves you can witness stone age carvings. You can find carvings of human beings, animals, religious symbols etc,. Its better to hire a guide to explore this caves. Chembra Peak : It is the highest peak in Wayanad. You can do trekking and mountain climbing here. It has rich flora and fauna. You can stay in temporary camps that are set up on this peak. Chain Tree : It has a massive steel chain hanging on it. Its located near national highway near Wayanad Ghat Pass. The chain on this tree has a fictitious story. They say chain grows along with the tree. Pookode Lake : This is a fresh water lake. It is nested in evergreen forest and mountain slopes thereby it captures the visitors attension. It is must visit destination on your Kerala trip. Soochipara Falls : Here water out-pores from 300ft. Its situated in middle of lush forest and mountains. The scenic beauty is mind blowing. There are many places to see in Wayanad to see and visit, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is one lush, forested region with areas of high altitude, home to animals including Asiatic elephants, tigers, leopards and egrets. In the Ambukuthi Hills to the south, Edakkal Caves contain ancient petroglyphs, some dating back to the Neolithic age.
