Stay more in either Darjeeling or Gangtok. For places to visit in Gangtok you can check my photoblog for an idea where you can visit or my own blog.
Here is a link for my own blog which will give you detailed information on Gangtok's tourist points
https://wandersagas.wordpress.com/2018/01/12/travel-diary-gangtok/
Shoghi
A 45-minute drive from Shimla (15 KMs in terms of distance), is the famous hill station of Shoghi that welcomes visitors with green hues of hill slopes with Pine trees.
The range of activities that one can engage in at Shoghi includes rope climbing, bridge crossing, cycling, night walk, bird watching, valley crossing, etc.
Kalpa
Situated in Kinnaur district and famous for its Apple orchards, Kalpa is a small and sleepy village. The place is perfect for witnessing the snow-capped Kinnaur Kailash Mountains that seem just a stone’s throw away.
As a tourist, one could go for short walks and visit the monastery. In case you want to engage in volunteer travel, you may visit the local girls’ orphanage to offer your services.
Chitkul
The last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibetan border, Chitkul is famous for its fruit-laden orchards and mustard fields. The frosty Himalayan river Bapsa also flows through Chitkul. The Himachali architectural cottages with slate/wooden roofs are a common sight here.
Chitkul is a paradise for nature lovers; they can just immerse themselves in the surroundings – lush green forests and snow-covered mountains in the backdrop of the river Bapsa. Another must visit at Chitkul is Kagyupa temple that has a beautiful, ancient idol of Shakyamuni Buddha. The carvings of 4 kings on 4 different directions is a must see.
Narkanda
Approximately 65 km from Shimla and surrounded by the Shivalik Range, Narkanda is a popular skiing resort for winters. The place is also ideal for those who want to spend ‘me time’ surrounded by the Shivalik Ranges.
Barot
On the foothills of Himalayas and on the banks of river Uhl, Barot is surrounded by the evergreen Deodar forest. The river Uhl in-fact serves as the breeding ground for fishes and the area has several fish farms.
The place offers multiple options for outdoor activities such as angling, fishing, trekking, camping, rock climbing, river crossing, etc.
Good Luck!!

Although a visa is not required to enter Bhutan for Indian citizens, they need a permit, which is free of cost. It is recommended to get the permit in Kolkata itself. You can get the permit from Royal Consulate of Bhutan in Kolkata. Note that it takes 8 days to get your permit issued. Alternatively, you can get your permit issued from Phuentsoling itself. Phuentsoling is a small Bhutanese town at the India-Bhutan border. The problem is that the permit-issuing office remains closed on Sundays and public holidays.
And regarding trek
DAY 1- ARRIVAL IN PARO, BHUTAN
DAY 2- SOI YAKSA DAY 1 (START OF TREK)
DAY 3- SOI YAKSA DAY 2
DAY 4- SOI YAKSA DAY 3
DAY 5- SOI YAKSA DAY 4
DAY 6- SOI YAKSA DAY 5 (END OF TREK)
DAY 7- DEPARTURE DAY
Good Luck!!!

Hello amritaparna,
Well o would tell you an idiom as says action speaks louder than words.
Whether you be in any part of the world when it comes to communication there are 2 things:
1.english because as an official language mostly people are familiar to it.
2. Your actions can helo you too as in the medieval period when people were not able to communicate through words, action was the only way.
I guess this can help you.
Enjoy travelling!!!
Hey Amritaparna,
The best way to communicate would be using your mobile phone ...
When I had been to Italy, I had few pictures downloaded for me ...
like if I was in search of a road to colosseum I would show that picture to a person waiting for bus, he helped to take the bus which goes to the place I wanted to ... that's the best way possible ...
Stat to communicate with English first .. if that doesn't work better, then this way of showing pictures would help you ...
Success rate would be atleast 80% as per my experience ...
This helps mainly while ordering food on streets ... showing a pic of a bread toast or a burger will be easy to order your food ...
Hope this will work for sure ...
Happy Travelling!!!
Hey Rohit,
I visited there in April 2018. Best location to book hotel is Police bazaar but there is so much cost difference between your chosen hotels. Then I would suggest going with the low one because the taxi cost 2 times a day for 4 days to reach Police bazaar from Castle road will be less than Rs10k. Best is book with Oyo app. Another area to book a cheap hotel near Police bazaar is Lower Lachumiere.
Happy travelling!!!!!
I am not from Shillong, but visited recently. I would suggest you to not stay at Police bazaar, as it gets really crowded, and the traffic is too much, if you want a peaceful stay, don't stay at Police bazaar
