It depends entirely on you and what you would like to cover! India is a beautiful country, whether you want to start from South to North or East to West. The season for traveling. North starts getting cold late October.South will have rains from June moving up from the Western ghats and then covering up the entire country.
Depends on where you live. I recommend start from Gujarat, go upwards to Rajasthan, Then the North, Northeast, Southeast, South, Southwest, and then cover the middle portion

For work: - it's always homestays, for quiet and peaceful time. for short duration travel or mostly for solos: - I prefer Hostels, random people, random conversations and not so heavy on pocket! Hotels mostly serves for the Family or when travelling with a bunch of friends.
I love to travel in all the seasons... because in winter all the things are quiet cold and quiet ๐
in summer everything is quite brighter๐
in spring the environment is quite amazing and trees are blooming๐
in autumn I feel like nature is decorating the way with the help of/through trees ๐
and in monsoon I love the hidden sun the way it peeps and I do have many more reasons ๐๐คฉ
