Hi, I had written my exp here. Not much has changed route wise and roads are still the same. Nope it can't be done. If you're a group of at least 5-7 people then you can plan the itinerary as its a big trek. 14-17 kms on your own is hard in this trail. You also need to take a halt in between and if supplies runs out, you need help.

Yes you can but you have to take a guide from the local gorkha union. It's mandatory. Better if you plan your trip with your friends and then take a guide to share the cost.

So if you want to enjoy the winters March to May is the best time. But if you want pleasant weather and less crowd June to August is the best time

Go to Shimla if u like infrastructure and if u want to like nature then visit Manali you will see snow this is peak time
