Yes you can definitely take family with you in May. The temperature would be good for kids also. According to Google stats it may vary from 16°C to 25°C. So keep 1-2 warm clothes if you're from Hotter areas than this atleast for kids.

Not really but if you are planning to visit Bhutan, I would suggest to do it soon before they levy the tourist charge on Indians.

After March, Gujarat become very hot. September to February are the best time. You can visit. Ahmedabd, Kutch, Dwarka, Diu, Bhavnagar, Sasan Gir, Polo forest, etc. They are plenty of attractions and sites.

Reaching from Delhi to Auli can be done in following ways : OPTION 1
By Road:
The best way to reach Auli is to take a bus from Delhi to Rishikesh. This is an overnight journey. From Rishikesh, either you can take a private cab direct to Auli (9 hours) or a shared taxi till Joshimath (8 hours). A more fun way would be to take a shared cab till Joshimath and from there, get on the Second Longest Cable Car in India from Joshimath to Auli. This cable car is 16 kms long, takes 22 minutes and blesses you with breathtaking views of the Garhwal Ranges of Himalayas and then take a cab from Rishikesh to Joshimath. OPTION 2:
By train:

During my travel to Thimphu I stayed in Pema Yoesling Villa a hillcliff Villa offering the best view of the Thimphu City & Buddha point. Best place to stay I guess it would cost a bit higher but its really worth it. Gaki the owner is so humble & happy to serve you. You must check this option for sure.

Although South India is not really popular for Holi celebrations, Holi is a rare sight in Hampi. For 2 days, Hampi celebrates Holi with a game of colors. In South India, Holi is celebrated in the Cherlai region of Kochi known as Manjalkuli. Holi is celebrated in Hyderabad for two days.
