Hampi and Gokarna in Karnataka Varkala and Cochin in kerala Pondicherry and Kodaikanal in Tamil nadu Mcleodganj and Dharamshala in himachal pradesh Rishikesh nd Haridwar in Uttarakhand .. All the above places are best for solo backpacking and also houses many hostels where you can get a single bed for as less as 500 rupees per night and also are well connected by public transport .. Hi Prashant, A 10 day trip to Himachal covering Mumbai-Delhi-Bir-Billing-Kangra-Dharamshala-Mcleodganj - Delhi - Mumbai costed me 15k including flight tickets, stay (at hostels), paragliding at Bir, local travel and food. I did this trip last week (5th - 15th Feb).
