Indian Railways has been thriving to make rail journey more convenient and comfortable. In an attempt to offer luxury travel to rail passengers, Railways recently rolled out its new 'Make in India' Tejas Express luxury train. The most exciting part of the newly launched train is its Executive class coach which offers an experience equivalent to business-class of an airline!
After giving the much-awaited engineless train- Train 18, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai now made another dream come true. Tejas Express luxury train is an upgraded version of the 2017 Tejas Express train that was launched between Mumbai and Goa.
The Executive Coach
Tejas Express train’s Executive chair car coach can seat up to 56 passengers and has comfortable seats in 2+2 configuration. The seats have comfortable headrest and footrest and there is a snack table under the handrest that can be pulled out. There is a personalised LCD screen in front of every passenger. Other facilities available at seat are USB charging point, personalised reading lights, and attendant call button.
Tejas Express Features
Automatic sliding doors, swanky pantry equipment, modular bio-vacuum toilets, CCTV cameras inside the coach area and the entrances are some of the major features in the new Tejas Express train. Other than this the bathroom has a ‘Make in India’ touch-enabled light integrated with the mirror and anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping to maintain cleanliness.
Route
The new 23-coach Tejas Express will run between Chennai Egmore and Madurai. The LHB-based luxury train is capable of running at a speed of 160 kmph if the track permits.
This is the first time Indian Railways has rolled out air-conditioned car coaches equipped with aircraft-like comforts and facilities.
