Imagine waking up every morning to witness the breathtaking sight of clouds gently caressing snowclad peaks, in a place where nature's beauty remains untouched!

That's Keran Village, a lesser-known paradise nestled in the enchanting landscapes of Kashmir's Neelum Valley. I've been lucky to have a friend who hails from Kashmir, and she never fails to introduce me to these hidden gems, that are absolutely postcard-perfect.

Tucked away near the Line of Control, this picturesque village offers a serene escape from the world's hustle and bustle. If you've been thinking of traveling to Kashmir, then get ready for a journey of tranquility, where the Kishanganga River flows through lush meadows, snow-capped mountains loom in the distance, and the warm hospitality of the locals embraces you.

Things to do in and around Keran Village:

1. Walk down the banks of the Kishanganga River:

The heart and soul of Keran Village, the Kishanganga River, also known as Neelum River, flows gracefully through the valley, adding an extra layer of charm to the already picturesque landscapes. Stroll along its banks, have a peaceful picnic, or simply sit back and immerse yourself in the tranquility of this natural wonder.

2. Visit the Arun Nag Temple:

History and spirituality blend seamlessly at the ancient Arun Nag Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple's age-old architecture and mystical aura make it a fascinating site for both devotees and history enthusiasts.

Just a short distance away from Keran Village lies the captivating Gurez Valley. Brace yourself for a thrilling day trip amidst breathtaking vistas and a glimpse into the vibrant local culture.

Keran Village's magic extends beyond its natural beauty. The locals welcome visitors with open arms, eager to share their traditional Kashmiri way of life. What is the best time to visit Keran Village?

The ideal time to explore Keran Village is during the summer months, from April to September. The weather is pleasant, the meadows are adorned with vibrant flowers, and the surroundings are at their greenest.

I wouldn't suggest travelling to Keran during the harsh winters, as heavy snowfall can make it difficult to access the village and there are chances of getting stuck on the roads.

How to reach Keran Village?

The easiest way is to fly to Srinagar, the nearest airport. From there, you can either hire a taxi or take a shared cab to Keran Village.

Distance: From Srinagar to Keran - 118 km.

You'll be passing through the enchanting Firkiyan Gali, standing tall at an altitude of 9634 ft. As you make your way to Keran, the mesmerizing 360-degree view of the surroundings at Firkiyan top will undoubtedly leave you spellbound and captivated.
