Jaisalmer was our second destination after Jaipur in our wide Rajasthan trip. With the views of joyous Jaipur still vivid in our minds, Jaisalmer offered us an even better landscape like never before. We arrived in Jaisalmer on 21st July sharp 12am by Runicha express from Jaipur. It was an eventful ride with all the desert sands flowing into the train which made sleeping inside uncomfortable. After reaching Jaisalmer railway station we straight away headed to Zostel which was located inside the Jaisalmer fort. Clearly Zostel is one of the best backpackers camp in India. They offer the best services and also are cheap enough for budget travelers to afford.
The temperature was hitting 40 degree celsius when we arrived and we were all burning in the sun, but who could believe this just 2 hours into the evening it was raining like hell! We could feel the wind rushing by and a desert Storm stood in front of us. It is raining in Jaisalmer. People were all running in the streets in utter joy, kids were dancing in the rain, folks came sprawling out of their houses onto the terrace to embrace the cloudburst, it was pure happiness for these desert people. We too joined in their happiness and we were all dancing in the rain with the kids and I suddenly I felt an urge not to leave this place, not to grow up, not to be that average guy in college, because I have already gone 5 years younger here.
