COVID-19 has changed the world, and there's no denying it. Some of us are constantly wondering how things will look in the New Normal, while others are working to create that new normal.

One such innovation happened on Tuesday, 11th August, 2020 when the first ever Socially-distanced concert took place in UK. The future of concerts showcased neat rows of fenced-off areas for groups, sparing everyone the crushing crowds and the worry of losing the prime spot.

The concert took place at Gosforth Park, Newcastle, England and was kicked off by Brit Awards winner, Rock singer-songwriter Sam Fender! Several other famous names are also set to perform at the temporary Virgin Money Unity arena with 500 separate raised metal platforms.

How did it work?

A total of 500 separate raised metal platforms are available at the arena, each accommodating up to five people from the same family/household. Each platform is spaced two metres apart from the next. Hence, 2,500 tickets were put on sale, and were sold out in minutes. Hand sanitizer station and mini fridge are also included in the reservation. The gigs have a one-way system in place to order food and drinks that can be pre-ordered and picked up at the venue bar (while wearing masks).

You can find the details for future concerts and their tickets starting at £70 for two here.

The initiative comes as the live music industry faces dire losses amid the coronavirus pandemic. We think that it's a really cool initiative and will surely help the entertainment industry if executed properly with strict safety measures.

What do you think? Would you like to attend a Socially-distanced concert?
