There we have to hire a jeep which is a chattisgarh tourism vehicle. We shared the jeep with three other Orissa people and we were charged 1500/- for 6 members. Safari ride was of nearly 11 KM's long. And the road which went through the jungle, we were surrounded by tall trees everywhere. The park can be said to be an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, researchers and anyone keen to discover the very best of fascinating wildlife in Chhattisgarh. Safari ride was awesome and unforgettable.
Drive through last remaining virgin forests of Eastern Ghats
Next morning, we left for Kanger Valley National Park – One of the densest forests of India. Spread over an area of approximately 200 square kilometres (77 sq mi) consisting mainly of hilly terrain, the park derives its name from the Kanger River, which flows throughout its length. Trust me I have never seen a forest so green in the month of May when it’s the peak time of summers in India. My father works for Central Government and hence he could get us a booking in forest resort located right in the middle of Kanger Valley. The major attractions are:
Kanger area is the heart of Naxal activities. But trust us, we did not find any discomfort anywhere. It was absolutely safe. Tirathgarh water fall is actually the small tributary of Kanger river called Mugabahar falling from a height of 300 feet in steps. Both I and P were awestruck. The small calm river which we crossed just before reaching the parking point, turns into a milky white water fall gushing down non stop. If Chitrakote fall impressed us, Tirathgarh fall sure mesmerized us. Since we were there in a moth which is officially "not season" there were not many people. Then we realized when Mr. Saumik from Chhattisgarh tourism told us that mostly we would be the only "tourists" in these places. There is a Shiva - Parvati temple nearby.
