Bhimashankar is one of the 12 jyotirlingas located near Pune. Its a monsoon trek, we took sufficient amount of water, snacks, trekking shoes and rain coat though it can't resist you from drenching in the rain. We started from IIT Bombay by a traveller at 4:30 am. We reached the base village Khnadas by 8:30. It was a nice village in the foot of the hill. One can also reach Khandas from Neral railway station.
Signal reception was poor so neither of us could call each other and when finally he did , the bearded guy told me to stop the others as they were headed to a dead end , apparently. I ran to them and the caravan took a U-turn . The bearded guy met us at a daily-needs shop where we bought chips and bottles for the trek ahead. The cold drink , however was finished off as soon as it was purchased.
12:30- started Vajepur village by bus and from there by auto to machi village.
These routes are part of the Sahyadri mountain range, part of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra. Monsoon is the best time to trek anywhere in the Sahyadris.
