Hello Folks!
Nemophilist
One who is fond of forest; A haunter of the woods.
Now that’s what you call a person who loves the jungle and the inhabitants of it. We have learnt from our childhood that the king of the jungle is LION, yes indeed I agree. But the Tiger, being the national animal of our country is nonetheless.
in the last census, in 2014, the tigers in the country were at 2226, up from 1706 in 2010, which is a serious concern. So the forest department is more focusing more on the upliftment of the tiger reserves in the country.
The vibrant and awe-strucking beauty of this alluring land is something you should not miss, Ranthambore offers an ideal ambiance to visit with friends and family. I had the opportunity to visit the Ranthambore National Park and to tell you the truth and not keep the suspense, we spotted the mighty animal at a distance which was scary and exhilarating as well.
The forest so dense and thick that one can get lost in the animal kingdom to watch the wild run free in their natural habitat. We entered the national park at around 06:30 am in the morning. And we spotted “Macchhli”, the wild cat at around 7 am. The very first view of the tiger and that too at our very first endeavor was in itself a very big joy to me. We did some prior research before choosing the correct place to go to but still such a thing was sheer luck.
To top it all we caught the glimpse of her while she had just killed one of the straying cattle in the woods and was tearing her apart into pieces and gulping it down her throat. The full view of the whole thing was right in front of our eyes as we perched on top of our heels to be safe and get a good look and feel of the carnivore as well.
There were other animals also which we saw in our half day tour of the jungle on an open jeep with the driver himself as the guide who was very polite and descriptive in explaining us about the jungle and answer all our queries. Though for bird watchers we can find the Bharatpur Bird sanctuary in Rajasthan to be more famous for birds during the seasons, but Ranthambore wont be a let down too. The habitat is enclosed with varied terrains and water bodies which results excellent element for unique birds and animals. With 272 species documented so far some of the exotic birds are: Flamingos, Gray Hornbills, Flycatchers, and Nightjars for instance.
But the cardinal fact is that we spotting the mighty feline and that too at our very first visit to the jungle. This in itself was a type of achievement myself and my friend felt from within. The feeling is unmatched to anything. I am sure everything has its own quirk and trait, and the feeling of each is diverse and vary to one’s likings. This was my first ever expedition to the woods and it has completely engulfed me into it.
Happy Trailing!!!
