Gardens by the Bay is divided into three spaces: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay Central Garden. Each space has its own theme, design, and attractions that showcase the diversity and beauty of plants and nature.

1. Bay South Garden

Bay South Garden is the largest and most iconic space of Gardens by the Bay, covering 54 hectares of land. It is inspired by the orchid, Singapore’s national flower, and features a stunning array of floral displays, sculptures, and gardens.

Some of the main attractions in Bay South Garden are:

Flower Dome: The Flower Dome is the world’s largest glass greenhouse, measuring 1.2 hectares and 38 meters high. It replicates the cool and dry climate of the Mediterranean and semi-arid regions, and houses over 30,000 plants from different continents. You’ll find exotic and rare flowers, such as baobabs, succulents, proteas, and more. The Flower Dome also hosts seasonal and thematic floral displays, such as Tulipmania, Sakura Matsuri, and Christmas Wonderland, that will delight your senses.

Cloud Forest: The Cloud Forest is a 0.8-hectare glass dome that replicates the moist and cool climate of the tropical highlands. It features a 35-meter tall mountain covered with lush vegetation and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. You’ll be able to explore the different levels of the mountain, from the Lost World at the top to the Secret Garden at the bottom, and learn about the biodiversity and conservation of these fragile ecosystems. You’ll also find a spectacular collection of orchids, ferns, bromeliads, and carnivorous plants, as well as interactive exhibits and multimedia displays.

Supertree Grove: The Supertree Grove is the most recognizable landmark of Gardens by the Bay, consisting of 12 vertical gardens that range from 25 to 50 meters tall. These supertrees are not only aesthetic, but also functional, as they collect rainwater, generate solar power, and provide ventilation for the domes. You’ll be able to walk among the supertrees on the OCBC Skyway, a 128-meter long aerial walkway that offers panoramic views of the garden and the city. You’ll also be able to enjoy the Garden Rhapsody, a dazzling light and sound show that takes place every night at 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm.

Supertree Observatory: The Supertree Observatory is the newest attraction in Gardens by the Bay, located at the top of the tallest supertree, 50 meters above ground. It offers a 360-degree view of the garden, the city, and the Marina Bay area. You’ll also find an indoor observation deck, a rooftop garden, and a café where you can relax and enjoy the scenery.

2. Bay East Garden

Bay East Garden is a 32-hectare space that offers a tranquil and scenic escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is designed as a series of large tropical leaf-shaped gardens, each with its own theme, character, and landscaping.

Some of the main attractions in Bay East Garden are:

Heritage Gardens: The Heritage Gardens are four themed gardens that reflect the culture and history of Singapore’s main ethnic groups: Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Colonial. You’ll find plants and flowers that are significant to each group, such as the peony, the hibiscus, the marigold, and the heliconia. You’ll also find sculptures, pavilions, and bridges that showcase the architectural and artistic styles of each group.

It is a haven for wildlife and nature lovers, as it features a variety of habitats, such as wetlands, grasslands, forests, and streams. You’ll be able to spot over 100 species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and fish, as well as enjoy activities such as kayaking, fishing, and cycling. Gardens By The Bay Reviews

Bright and not so early, we decided to get some food into our systems and visited the HP themed restaurant Platform 1094. The ambience of the place was all things perfect but the menu was unimpressive. We grabbed coffee and hustled to our next location on the hitlist, the iconic Gardens by the Bay. After much debate, we decided on the mode of transport and settled to take Grab taxi as we were a company of 6. For shorter groups or for solo travelers, I recommend the famous MRT metro for commute to any place in Singapore. If you are somebody who likes nature and anything green, this is your haven. We did not plan to spend the entire day inside the Gardens, but that is precisely what we did. We spent solid 8 hours inside the Gardens and believe me, there is so much to see and you will be pleasantly surprised. The Gardens is split into different attractions, you can read online in advance and book the tickets accordingly. First we headed to visit the coveted "Cloud forest". The artificial clouds appear every other hour inside this giant dome of a forest. Inside the dome, flora from all over the world are planted in every direction possible. It is quite a sight to behold. After spending much time strolling through the Cloud forest and pretending that I understand different kinds of plant species, we quickly grabbed a snack and headed towards the "Flower dome". In this particular section, the flowering plants are split geographically from where they originate and planted quite artfully. If not for the crowd, this would have been a really romantic place. Nonetheless it was pretty darn beautiful. The decor was very Christmas themed and colorful as we visited during the holidays. I would also recommend to visit the "Floral fantasy" section of the Gardens as well. We missed this out sadly, maybe next time as I somehow feel Singapore will invite me again :) By then it was almost sunset so we decided to extend the visit and watch the light show at the Gardens. It was quite spectacular and a very peaceful experience, just sitting there in silence with friends and taking in the sparkles and twinkles. After a very long day, we decided to turn ourselves in as we had an exciting day planned and wanted to be our best selves, after all it was the 31st December of 2019, ending of a decade!
I started my third day in Singapore from ‘Gardens by the Bay’, if there is heaven on earth here it is. This place has various international awards and accolades to its name. Featuring the best of horticulture, sustainability, architectural design, Gardens by the Bay provides the perfect edutainment opportunity for all ages. There is so much to discover here. From diverse plant life in the award-winning Cooled Conservatories (Flower Dome & Cloud Forest), to towering vertical gardens that extend into the sky, this must-visit destination will awaken the explorers and inquisitive minds alike. It also houses world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Another sought after attraction the ‘OCBC Skyway’ stands 22 meters tall above the ground and these Supertrees are perfect for panoramic skyline views. ‘Garden Rhapsody’ comes alive in the evening with its exhilarating visual and audio effects. (TIP: Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories along with the OCBC Skyway are the paid attractions.) The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built at the confluence of five rivers, across the Marina Channel between Marina East and Marina South. Though this is not a celebrated tourist spot in Singapore however it lies near the two conservatories (Cloud Forest and Flower Dome) and if you are going to miss this place, you are surely going to miss a lot. Once you reach at the top of this barrage, there is a lush green field which plays a perfect role of a wonderful picnic spot, you can see locals enjoying with friends and family, having food, flying kites. After witnessing the beautiful sunset on Marina Barrage, I directly headed to Clarke Quay, Singapore’s hotspot to enjoy the nightlife. There is no dearth of good pub, bar, clubs, restaurants in this place. If anyone wants to witness how Singapore comes alive at night, this is the place to be. After spending sometime here I directly headed to my Hotel to catch some good sleep as I knew that my next two days will be very tiring.
We started with visiting Gardens by the Bay. Take MRT and alight at Bay Front. Exit the MRT by following the sign board and you will enter Gardens by the Bay. Entry is free. I would recommend to spend around 6 hours as it is a huge garden with fantastic views and surroundings (Marina Bay Sands and Singapore Flyer). Super Tree Grooves (Tall tree like structure) and OCBC sky-walk gives an amazing view. 7$ per person to take the sky-walk and one can be at the sky-walk for only 15 minutes. Next on to do list is to visit Cloud Forest and Flower Dome(Glass Conservatory) and one would see different types of plants, flowers and gardens (i.e. California, Australia Gardens etc). 28$ per person for both domes. If you are hungry, go to Satay by the Bay which is a hawker center inside Gardens by the Bay and a lot of food options are available at affordable prices. By 7:45 pm be near the super tree grove and enjoy the free light show which is for 15 minutes.
This is one of the most intelligently and thoughtfully made attractions, I must say. One part which is called the Flower dome hosts hundreds of different varieties of plants that belong to different geographical areas around the world. This fully air conditioned glass dome is sectioned in the same way and you could spend around 1 hour inside. The second glass dome called the Cloud forest houses the tallest indoor waterfall in the world. You can walk around the structure on multilevel pathways winding from top to bottom which helps you closely see hundreds of different types of plants that are grown all around the structure. Truly mesmerizing! Head straight to the Supertree grove for an out of the world experience. Late evening is the best time to be here as you can see this outdoor garden with gigantic tree like structures lighted up in shades of blue and green and setting sun in the backdrop. Wait till 8 at night for a mind blowing light and music show called the Garden Rhapsody which is definitely not to be missed.
Gardens by the Bay is a marvel in itself. Cloud forest and Flower Dome are two conservatories inside Gardens by the Bay which are crafted with excellence. Cloud forest is a man-made forest with a magnificent waterfall, which greets you at its entrance. You have taken the lift to the top and descend from a suspended bridge enjoying each minute aspect of the man-made forest. Flower Dome displays flowers from all over the world carefully cultivated in a controlled atmosphere. The colours and the variety of flowers that you can see in this dome are spell-bounding. It is a definite treat for nature lovers and a must visit destination in Singapore.
