
Finally the ride to Rameswaram was planned suddenly at a night. I left my hometown in the early cold and misty mornings of the month January 17th of 2025. I planned to take village roads that gives you more views and you can witness the entire culture and different kind of life styles of the people throughout the journey.
Route: Trivandrum – Tirunelveli – Sayalgudi – keelkarai - Ramanathapuram – Rameswaram - Dhanuskodi.

How many of you know about Rameswaram. ?
When you cross the 3km Pamban bridge you will reach Rameswaram hence we can call Rameswaram a separate Island. “YES “more people are well known about this holy place for famous Ramanathaswamy temple and it is one of the famous pilgrimage centre in India. Apart from that Rameswaram is the second closest city to reach Sri Lanka and it is the birthplace of our respected honourable former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Rameswaram has lot of many other important facts also. You can avail buses from major cities of Tamilnadu as well as from major cities in kerala also.
So one must visit this holy place at least once in our life time. Here 2-days itinerary.
1. Ramanathaswamy Temple.
It’s a temple dedicated to Lord Siva. On all days you will find rush inside the temple because it that much famous for Hindu peoples. This temple has taken name for its unique style that is “A temple which has longest corridor among the Hindu temples “.There are sixty-four Tīrthas (holy water bodies) in and around the island of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India. Bathing in these Tīrthas is a major aspect of the pilgrimage to Rameswaram and is considered equivalent to penance.
Temple Timings: 4am to 1pm, 3pm to 8pm

1. Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Memorial
This memorial is dedicated to our former president of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. In this museum you can find personal belongings and the book written by our former president. The main attraction inside this memorial is you can find so many rare photographs of our former president on seeing those photos and belongings of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam you will find how simple the man was. Surely it will bring tears to our eyes; we have lost such a good human. So one should not miss this when you travel to Rameswaram.
Timings: 9am to 5pm
Note: You are not able to take phone or eatable items inside the memorial. You can keep your things inside the locker nearby. you will find small shops their locker facilities are available. Better please keep at your rooms or inside the vehicle itself. Charges are minimal so it’s not a problem safety of our things are main concern here.

2 .kothandaramaswamy Temple
This temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Rama. You can reach this temple on the way to Dhanushkodi the last point of India. 13km from Rameswaram. This is also a major tourist attraction which one should not avoid during the Rameswaram trip. It is located on the shore of Bay of Bengal and Gulf of Mannar . Dhanushkodi was severely affected by the 1964 Rameswaram cyclone, the temple was the only structure that survived. Swami Vivekananda is said to have visited the place after his historic trip to Chicago.


3. Dhanushkodi – The Ghost Town
Dhanushkodi is also called the ghost town of India. The town was destroyed during the cyclone of Rameswaram in 1964. Dhanushkodi remains a tourist attraction due to its historical and mythological relevance.
