A Day in Aurangabad - Bibi ka Maqbara and Gogababa Tekri

What to do when you are in a city which is famous for its monuments and places of interest but you only have one day ? You drop the plan, sit at your place of accommodation and wait for your return journey? Hell No ! You set out to explore these places and I am pretty sure you will find something great. I had one such experience recently. I was in the historical city of Aurangabad and I had a day to explore the city. I only had time to cover 2 places due to the lack of time on my hands. I decide to plan the day in a way so that I cover one famous tourist attraction and one off the track place which is closer to nature. I narrowed down on Bibi ka Maqbara and Goga Baba Tekri and it turned out to be a pretty good day to be honest.

1) Bibi ka Maqbara

It was the first spot on my list in this beautiful city of Aurangabad. If you look at this beauty from a distance, you will have a feeling you are looking at the famous Taj Mahal. But don't be fooled, it might have a striking resemblance with one of the 7 wonders but it is not. Although it has a similar beauty quotient with the Taj, it is significatly smaller in size. Commissioned by the last impactful ruler of the Mughal empire, Aurangzeb and completed under the reign of his son Alam Khan, this beautiful monument was built in the memory of Dilraz Banu Begam and still remains one of the most famous spots in the city.

2) Goga Baba Tekri

The second spot on my list was a places which can be easily termed as an adventure lover's paradise. Goga Baba Tekri is a place located in the Bhavsighpur area of the city. There are two ways to climb this mountain, one is a steep climb up the mountain and can be opted if you want that rush of adrenaline through your body. On the other hand if you are traveling with your family and kids and want a relatively easier route, you can opt for a slightly longer but easier route around the mountain. When you reach the top, you will find the reason for this particular mountain's name, a temple made for a saint by the name of Goga Baba. It is a spot where you can come and chill for the whole day and is a perfect spot for a day's get away from the city. It provides a 360 degree view of this beautiful city and you can actually spot the other famous spots in the city.
