Day 1

Travelling Responsibly: A Trip To Evolve Back Coorg  Does Not Come At The Cost Of Nature

The world of traveling is evolving. The good news is that Eco Tourism is emerging as a responsible way to conserve the environment.

As a conscious, mindful traveler, I choose my place of stay responsibly. I seek retreats and resorts that have integrated sustainable concept in their operations.

I also look for immersive experiences that play a vital role in local community development, conservation efforts, and promoting cultural heritage.

Hence, a visit to Evolve Back Coorg was a very satisfying  trip. Needless to add, it ticked off all boxes - Peaceful Comfortable Staycation, Exclusive Experiences and A Lesson on how Luxury and Sustainability can be harmoniously integrated.
Sprawling in lush 1500 acres, it is a Coffee and Spices Plantation paradise.

Immersive Experiences At The Resort

The Resort team has curated exclusive experiences to let you experience and understand the local flora and fauna, culture and heritage.

Plantation Tour
Guests are taken in a specially designed jeep, offering panoramic views of the coffee and spice plantation. The in-house naturalist takes you on this tour and has joyful surprises for his guests.

For me, the surprise was pleasant and yes, full of fun.  After nearly completing the tour, Abilash , the vivacious Naturalist,  stopped the jeep, took its key and said , get down to walk back.  He showed the path which was through the bushes. “Bend down, go,” he said.

I was too scared if any insect might fall and get stuck in my hair. Anyhow walked through and guess what ?...reached a pretty Machan where he had arranged a beautiful sundowner table with coffee, wine, sandwiches and several delectable snacks. I was so touched by the effort taken to give guests this kind of an experience. Thanks to Abilash and Honey for organising this delightful tour.

Visit To A Traditional Kodava Home

Guests are taken to  the Kandrathanda Ainemane -    the traditional home of a Kodava Clan or family. Mr. Prithvi Madaiah, a member of the Kandrathanda family, shows the place and  explains Kodava culture and history. The visit is followed by a typical Kodava lunch prepared by his wife at their residence.

Coracle Ride

A ride in a coracle - a circular local fishing boat is an exciting activity that is the perfect way to experience the stunning Cauvery river.

Electric Trails

Guests are given an opportunity to explore the quaint villages near the Resort on eco-friendly electric cycle accompanied by a Naturalist.

CoffeeOlogy At Sidapur Coffee n Culture Museum

Do not miss a live session delving into the art and science of gourmet coffee at the Coffee Museum of the Resort. You will get to discover Coorg’s coffee legacy and the history of coffee cultivation, from seed to cup, and its deep connection to Coorg’s cultural identity.

Local Cultural Program

Enjoy your  evenings with local artists and musicians as the Resort makes efforts to organise local music and dance programs to showcase the traditional culture and traditions.

Holistic Wellness

The Resort has an in-house  Spa,  called Vaidyshala where you can opt for a therapy from their extensive  Ayurveda menu. I recommend  therapy ‘Udvardana’ which is back, shoulder, legs and head massage with special herbal oils. It worked very well for my jaded nerves.

For Quiet Moments - The Reading Lounge

A beautiful library to spend quiet moments, reading and watching raindrops in the lush paddy fields.  Perched on stilts with a panoramic view of the fields and coffee plantations, the Reading Lounge was my hideout for ME time with    freshly brewed coffee.
