Himachal Pradesh as we know is full of beautiful valleys and small villages tucked in them. But with the recent commercialization and an increase in number of tourists, parts like Shimla and Manali are quite crowded and not same anymore. While that is so, there are a few places in Himachal that are still untouched by commercialization and offers you a perfect getaway.

Jibhi in the Kullu Valley of Himachal is one such place and considered as one of the best offbeat places. You can spend good amount of quality time in Jibhi along with your friends or your loved ones. The dense pine forests, tranquil lakes and pristine temples make this place worth visiting. Also, a number of Victorian style cottages being here gives you the perfect opportunity of staying in a hamlet far away from city life in a way as if you are really living in the Victorian era. Let us take a look at some of the things that you can do in Jibhi.

How to get there?

Jibhi is easily accessible by road from Aut- Banjar Road. You have to get down the Aut tunnel and catch a bus to Banjar. From Banjar, there are a number of buses to Jibhi running on a daily basis. Also, if you want to drive through some of the most beautiful villages and valleys , you can also get your own car to reach here.

The nearest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu) airport which is 52 kms away from Jibhi. You can easily catch a bus or hire a taxi from Bhuntar to reach Jibhi.

Things to do in Jibhi

1. Go for fishing by the river

Jibhi is dreamy quaint little village tucked in the central Himachal with abundant natural beauty around. Also, the whole area of Jibhi (Tirthan Valley) is quite popular for trout fishes that are found here. You must take go out for fishing in Jibhi near the innumerable river streams. And if you are lucky enough to catch fishes, those fresh water fishes are cooked for you by the local people for dinner. Sounds a perfect deal right ?

2) Trek up to Chaini Village and Sharingi Bagi Temple

Jibhi has a number of treks that can be done ranging from small easy hikes upto difficult ones. The 4km trek upto Chaini Village starts from Chiladhar. You can easily drive up to Chiladhar and start your trek to the beautiful little village of Chaini. Chaini Village has some of the best chinese architecture in their houses. Also, the village boasts a 1500 year old fort which is a must visit to witness the architecture and beauty of Himalayan villages. And while you are on the trail to Chaini from Chiladhar, a road diverges into forest which further takes you to Sharingi Bagi temple which is a quite popular spot for tourists and locals.

3) Trek up to Serolsar Lake

Regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in Jibhi, Serolsar is located at about 6 kms from the famous Jalori Pass. It is hidden amidst dense forest full of pine trees and is a sight you must visit at least once. You can sit around the lake or dip your feet in it to rejuvenate yourself after the trek. Serolsar lake is thus one of the best places to visit in Jibhi.

4) Jibhi Waterfalls

Jibhi is one of those places with a number of secret waterfalls that you can explore. Start your trek from Jibhi and head deep into the forest unless you see the Jibhi Waterfalls. The gushing flow of the water is enough to soothe your soul and give a sense of contentment. Also, there a number of small wooden bridges constructed here where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the waterfall. Do make a point to visit this waterfall to listen to the music of the nature at its best.

5) Visit the neighbouring village

While Jibhi is located in the vicinity of Great Himalayan National Park, there are quite a few villages near Jibhi which are worth visiting. Visit the less popular village of Sharchi which is a beautiful hamlet located at a few kms from Banjar. You will be stunned to see the views of the Himalayas from Sharchi. Also, visit the village of Gushaini which is again a small village on the banks of Tirthan river making it a peaceful place to spend your time at. Apart from these two there are many other villages that you can visit which includes Sainj,Neuli,Shangarh, Gada Gushaini, Thachi, etc.

6) Experience the landscape at Jalori Pass

Located at a height of 3120 meters, Jalori Pass though not one of the highest passes in HImachal but certainly one of the best you will ever visit. Jalori Pass is around 12 kms from and the journey to the pass itself is so endearing. The pass is open throughout the year and is one of the best places to witness the ranges right from Shimla to Kinnaur. Also, this pass is the one that connects the region of Shimla and Manali through Banjar making it an important passes in all of Himachal. Thus, when you are in Jibhi, do make a point to visit the famous Jalori Pass to experience the mighty landscapes of Himalayas like never before.

7) Hike Upto Raghupur Fort

While you are in Jibhi, hiking all the way to Raghupur Fort is a must. Raghupur Fort has easily stood the test of time. It is said that the fort was built by some king during older times from Mandi to overlook the valleys.

Now, you can enjoy sweeping views of Karsog, Ani, Banjar and Kullu Valley from up. The top also has some of the ruins left from the old Fort building. You can spend some time relaxing at the top enjoying the views with the cup of a chai and come back on the same day.
