Travel during a pandemic has its own risk. Pandemic or not, the Christmas holidays are the primary tourist season in our country.
Our first 2 stops, Lucknow and Agra, are too mainstream and crowded. So, we were careful about choosing our next destinations for the trip. I came across a few ancient temples (will share pictures soon) scattered in the Morena district in Madhya Pradesh with some interesting historical significance. Those temples are literally out of nowhere. Little more digging down over the internet, I realized Gwalior could be perfect stay options to visit these temples as a day. We even asked ourselves does anyone visit Gwalior for a vacation!!! After a lot of discussions, we decided to spend a day in Gwalior to give rest to our tired feet after 4 hectic days and roam around a bit before commencing the next leg of our trip.
We were so wrong. The fort just blew our minds with its sheer size and intricate details on its monuments. Like the palace you see in the picture is the Man Singh Palace. It is the most beautiful palace in the fort. The blue lacework looks so vibrant when the sun reflects on it. Interiors are equally gorgeous with similar lacework and golden sandstone.
You must keep 2 days to explore Gwalior rather than making it a base to explore other places.
