A beautiful town located on the Kanna Devan hills of the Nilgiri Mountain Ranges. An elevation of 13oo meters makes it a perfect spot to be called a Hill Station.Weather is pleasant throughout the year, during winters it feels cold in the mornings and the evenings. This town has a rich history of Tea plantations.

There are a plenty of attractions in and around Munnar.

(a) Munnar Tea Museum

Munnar has been an integral part of the Tea industry since the beginning of the Tea Era. At the Munnar Tea Museum, you get to see a short film that explains how Munnar became the Tea capital of Kerala. Post which a factory employee explains that complete process, how different types of Tea gets derived from the Tea Plant.

Tea Museum has a demo plant which explains the complete Tea making process step by step. One can also purchase different kinds of Tea available from the museum in-house shop.

(b) Sree Narayanapuram Waterfall

This waterfall is one of the discrete charms of Munnar.When visiting this beautiful fall, you would see only a few locals enjoying the class of the region.

(c) Ponmudi Dam

This dam is built across river Panniar and the water from the reservoir is used for power generation. The view of the hills and valley from the dam is magnificent and scenic.

This same dam was one of the shooting spots of Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express.

(d) Munnar-Top

The top is almost 2 hours from Munnar. You would have to take a bumpy jeep ride to reach this point. It's a great place, the landscape is unusual.

(e) Munnar Tea Gardens

The tea gardens look very symmetric and provide a mesmerizing view. Like masterpieces of patched artwork. So green and stunning especially against the blue sky. One should visit from during the mornings and evenings to prevent oneself from the scorching heat of the day.

(f) Manna Chocolate Factory

If you are a fan of home-made chocolates, then you will probably love this place. Manna explains the entire process of making chocolates, starting from the extration of cocoa from the plant to blending it with various fruits and nuts to provide that authentic flavor. The chocolates here are always better than those available elsewhere in Munnar.

(g) The Spice and Herb Gardens

Visits to these spice and herb plantations could be very informative. The guides taking you through the tours are very knowledgeable. One gets to see amazing trees and shrubs on which spices and herbs grew.

These gardens have their own shops where you can purchase some spices for cooking, and herbal oils to alleviate joint pains, back pains, etc.

(h) Subramanya Temple

During the evening you can walk up to the temple. A well-maintained temple with the Kerala style structure. The place is crowded during the evenings as locals visit the temple for the night prayers.

(i) Mattupetty Dam

The dam is surrounded by beautiful mountains. You can go boating in the lake enjoying the green valley. Would recommend people to visit the dam during the early hours as it gets congested as the day moves.
