So, it all started with a dream. Yes, a dream. Let me give you a context. I basically belong to the lower middle class from a rural area. Taking flight is not very common there even in 2023. One who took flight ever is considered as the “Bde Aadmi” there. People see that person as “an extra ordinary person.” If you look for people who ever took flight, you'll hardly find anyone out there.
So, belonging to such a village where flight is not very common, I always wanted to take a flight. But, on my own expense. Also, I wanted to be the first guy in my family who took flight. Since I have two elder sisters, I was afraid that they might take the flight before me, which I did not want. Maybe it was my competitive spirit. That's why I wanted to take flight as soon as possible.
Time passed and I moved from school to college. Now the urge to fly had increased a lot. I promised myself that I would take flight till 4th - 5th semester (2022). But, unfortunately, it couldn't be possible. Even at that time, I was able to bear the ticket cost but I was not mentally prepared for that.
After my college, I saw an opportunity when I could take flight. One of my college friend shifted Delhi for his study. We were planning to meet for 5 - 6 months but we were not able to meet. So, at the end, I planned to meet him on his birthday.
As I proposed this plan to him, he agreed and also advised me to explore some of the popular tourist attractions in Delhi. I agreed and started planning to implement it.
His birthday is on 12th of Feb, So, I decided to go there on 10th Feb and return on 13th Feb. I told Mummy about this and took permission from her.
I booked a flight from Lucknow to Delhi on Feb 10, 2023 on trip.com. Since it was my first time, I watched a lot of youtube videos and asked some friends about their first flight experience so that I would be aware of major things.
Finally the day came. My flight was on 10th Feb in the morning. The boarding time was 5:50 AM and departure time was 6:35 AM.
I woke up at 3 AM, and got ready. Took clothes in my bag, and my Laptop too. And, took a Rapido bike and auto rickshaw to reach Lucknow Airport (CCS Airport).
I was very excited but nervous too. One thing that was constantly coming in my mind was that I would miss my flight. I reached airport at somewhere 5:00 AM. There was no rush due to the early morning.
I went through the security check there and after security checking, I entered the waiting area. I sat there for few minutes then a bus came and took me near the plane.
I never saw a plane so close. It was very huge. I boarded the plane. There were two air hostesses standing at a distance from the door. They welcomed me with folded hands. I was like, “Waah, Kya Respect hai”.
My seat was 18F. That was a window seat. I paid extra for that seat so that I could enjoy the view outside the plane. After a few minutes, the plane started running. I used to think that plane would run for 3 to 4 minutes. But, it ran for less than one minute and then finally took off.
After approx 1 hour and 15 minutes, I landed at Delhi Airport. That runway was too long. There were so many airplanes standing there. Airplanes from so many countries. The airport was very huge.
I took my luggage bag and came outside of the airport. Took Metro and went to the hostel where that friend was staying.
So, this is my first time flight experience. Overall, it was one of the best experience of my life. That trip was filled with emotions. I enjoyed every single moment. Though a bit late, I was able to fulfill the dream that I had been wanting to accomplish for a long time.
