The zoo is quite huge spread on a 300 acre site with lush green acres, one can easily spend a day here. It also offers adventurous safari rides through jungles, making it a true paradise for animal and nature lovers. The Nehru zoo park is a must place visit if you are travelling to Hyderabad with children’s.
Nehru Zoological Park was established in 1959 but in 1963 it was opened to public. The animals are cared and given natural environment untamed. It has species of Indian Rhino, Bengal Tiger, Indian Elephant, Deer and number of birds.
This is the first zoo park in India to receive the ISO 9001-2015 certification in 2021 for conservation of Wild animal species and ISO 14001:2015 for promotion of environmental activities.
Visitors also have an option of a buggy ride to explore the zoo. The park uses battery operated vehicles that offer peaceful ride to the all the important places of the zoo. You can hop on and hop off to any buggy around. It charges a nominal fee of Rs. 80 per person.
Best time to visit the zoo is in the winter season as the temperature drops, you can explore the zoo in a cool climate.
Zoo Park offers various facilities for visitors convenience. Some of the facilities include safe drinking water, first aid facility, toilets and washrooms, parking area, canteen and shelters to rest throughout the park.
Few rides inside the zoo:
Toy Train is popular among kids. The fee is 20 Rs per person. Unlike the Buggy ride, this doesn’t stop anywhere. It covers the park for 30 mins.
There is a children park inside the zoo to engage kids. Jurassic park and Butterfly park are also famous with kids.

Visitors are not allowed to carry plastic bags inside the zoo premises.
The major attraction for visitors within the zoo park is the Lion safari. You will go through the gates on a van with iron fence. You will find lion, tigers, bears and buffalos roaming freely in a jungle environment. This was the first zoo that started with the idea of Safari Park.
