1. Sajjan Garh Palace

Also known as the Monsoon Palace, this palace is located just outside Udaipur. Built on top of a hill overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake, the fort is an iconic monument in the city, especially in the evenings when it is lit up. It was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 in order to observe the monsoon clouds. Today, the palace is a popular site to watch the sun set.

2. Udaipur City Palace

This architectural gem was over 400 years in the making. The construction of this venerable monument started in 1553. This palace is flamboyant and offers panoramic views of many other monuments nearby such as the Monsoon Palace and the Lake Palace. The Udaipur City complex is set atop a hill and overlooks the Pichola lake. There are a number of structures within the complex and displays a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture.

3. Bujera Fort

Bujera Fort is just 15 minutes away from the Udaipur City Palace. One of the premier hotels in India, this fort is open only to guests of the hotel. Built in the traditional Rajasthani style, all architectural details have been retained for a truly immersive experience. The gardens in this fort have been described by guests as magical. The food served at the hotel follows the philosophy of farm to table and believes in sustainable practices for the community.

4. Kumbalgarh Fort

The Kumbalgarh Fort is the second largest fort in Rajasthan with a fort wall that spans over 38km. The fort is a typical Mewar fortress and is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap who was one of the greatest kings of Mewar. The fortress has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and draws many tourists especially to view the spectacular lights lit during the evenings. The fort is located at a distance of 82km from Udaipur. You are bound to find many Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh cabs.

5. Chittorgarh Fort

The largest fort in the country, the Chittorgarh fort is spread over 260 hectares. The fort was the capital of Mewar and is in the Chittorgarh town. The fort was in the hands of the Mewar rulers from the 7th century. In three raids over a span of more than two hundred years, the Mewar kings lost to their invaders. Subsequently, the women of the royal family are said to have committed Jouhar or self-immolation. These acts and the fort have now become the symbol of loyalty, sacrifice and courage. You will find many Udaipur to Chittorgarh cabs to make the 122km drive.
