The best time to visit Sigiriya is from January to March and it’s recommended that the ideal time to start climbing the rock is early in the morning or late afternoon, when the temperatures drop.

Climbing Sigiriya is not hard and can be done by just about anyone with varying fitness levels. Depending on the crowds and your fitness, the average time to climb up and down the rock can vary from 1.5 to 3 hours. There are approximately 1,200 steps to reach the summit of Sigiriya. When climbing Sigiriya, wear comfortable shoes and attire to make the ascent much easier.
