Wular / Manasbal lake is a lake in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir state.
It comes in the path of Jhelum River.

Wular Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, with a size of 189 sq km. The lake is situated at an altitude of 1,580 meters. Its maximum depth is 14 meters, its length is 16 km and width is 10 km. Wular Lake plays an important role in the hydrographic system of the Kashmir Valley by acting as a massive sedimentation basin for annual flooding.

Wular Lake is a permanent wintering ground for many migratory water species such as the Little Egget (Egreta garzetta), the Cattle Egget (Bubulcus ibis), the Schweller (Anas clypeta), the Common Pochard (Aythya felina), and Mallard.Wular lake is an important habitat for fish and contributes about 60 percent of the fish yield of the Kashmir Valley.

The major fish species found in the lake are: Cyprinus carpio, Barbus conchonius, Gambusia affinis, Nemashilus sp., Crossochilus letius, Sizothorax curvifrons, S. Eskinones, s. Planifron, s. Microprogon, s. Longipinus and s. Over 8,000 fishermen earn their livelihood from the Wullar / Manasbal Lake.
