Chilika Lake

The brackish waters of the Chilika Lake cover more than 1000 square kilometres and provide habitat to some of the rarest avian and marine species on earth. This unique eco-system is one of India’s most precious and it is just a 100-kilometre drive from Bhubaneswar. Some of the rare species found here include the Irrawaddy dolphin, the green sea turtle and flamingos. Bird lovers would love a visit to Nalaban Island, situated in the middle of the watery expanse and designated a bird sanctuary.
