You can try and stay in hostels like gostops, zostel or shalom, they have private rooms also with great views

In rishikesh you can stay at hosteller mini, I personally stayed there and had a great experience. You can visit beatles ashram, parmarth niketan, ram jhula, neer waterfall, triveni ghat, secret waterfall and ganga beach in Rishikesh. Also do try rafting.
