Hi Shree, The best time to visit Ladakh is May till October. It's not advisable at all, As in October Leh closes due to heavy snowfalls especially by road. Attached with my comments you can check curated trips by fellow travelers. Please take a look. Thanks!
Hey Shree...Ladakh is closed from September mid to March. The roads will be closed. You can go to Rohtang pass from Manali Highway in October not beyond that.
Hi, Shree, they start blocking the roads by the last week of the september usually. However Leh is accessible and there are travellers generally for intense snow Trekking and winter games mostly. Happy Travelling . Regards.
Hi ,
The interior Roads are mostly never blocked in Ladakh and even if there's snowfall Army clears them within a day or max two days. The roads from Manali and Srinagar are closed We visited ladakh in late December and never had a problem anywhere. Khardung-La and Pangong both are open and we were the only ones at that time. Imagine the entire Frozen Pangong and just you :) Do check our trip pictures https://www.tripoto.com/trip/ladakh-in-winters-yeah-sure-5c50198f38245
As the month of October sets in the whole place is filled with a new life again. This is one of the best periods for visiting the stunning and beautiful areas of Leh and Ladakh as the place is permeated in brilliant hues.
From Srinagar-Leh and also Manali-Leh all the roads are brimming with people. Snowfall begins and cold wave clears over the zones of high elevations. Camps nearby the lakes too are closed. The temperature during this time remains Maximum 14° C, Minimum -1° C.
Those traveling by roads then the Manali-Leh roadway are open however you will run over snow secured streets and the majority of the visitor houses, dhabas and so on are closed during this period. You can also take flight according to your demands. The prices will be a bit cheaper than its usual cost.
Another interesting thing that you can enjoy if you are visiting at this time is the Diskit Festival which is held in this month. Visit the monasteries and also pass through Khardungla Pass and then the majestic Nubra Valley. Explore the beauty of this region and don’t miss a chance to try the double-humped camel ride in Ladakh.
You can surely visit Leh Ladakh; however, by September end most parts of the region shuts and witness heavy snowfall. If you are planning to ride, it's not advisable. You will need to hire a taxi and explore the place.
