Plan for a trip to Kohima Nagaland. The annual Hornbill festival will start on the 1st of December and will last till the 10th. You can book hotels and homestays online. They also host a national rock contest every year during the festival.

Best place for trip with friends is to take Kasol- Kheerganga trek. You can easily hire cheap tents at Kasol.

Absolutely.. But everything depends on your budget and from where you will start your journey..
But still I can suggest you, If you want to go northern part of India, then you can go for Himachal ( Kasol,Tosh, Kheerganga, Manali, Shimla, Dharmsala, Dalhousie) or Uttarakhand ( Rishikesh, Derahdun-Mussouri, Auli, Nainital, Ranikhet)..In Rishikesh you can try Bunjee, River Rafting.
If you want to North East India, then you can go for Darjeeling, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal..

I can understand the budget issue being a student myself . For a budget trip Rajasthan ( Jaipur , udaipur , jodhpur and Jaisalmer ( desert Safari and camel ride ) is a nice option.
Go by overnight train or bus and for a budget option , stay in Hostel. 2. Trip to meclodganj , dhramsala and triund trek is another option in uttrakhand. You will probably find snow in Auli Uttrakhand.
