There are many Places in delhi, But among the most historic, comes as 1 Qutub Minar Complex, Monuments of Mehrauli. 2 Jantar Mantar- but you need to understand the concept of the old system of solar calculations and astronomy readings, so it is not just a place to visit but to learn. 3 Red fort and Jama Masjid { largest mosque in Asia )
Apart from that there are numerous Historic monuments, places, but I wont say these as Iconic. In terms of some exceptionally awesome place, do visit a) Akshardham temple, for the Grandeur, Architecture and the awesome, light sand laser shows in the evening, which are theme based. You can read about them before visiting, then it will be much more interesting. b) Lotus (Ba-Hai) temple, an Awesome work and structure, as serene environment and a tranquil sanctuary, You will feel a striking peace, and somehow if you know the process if meditation, you can get powerful energy and vibes. Old Delhi walk, old monuments, food etc is another Unique sort of experience, close by that is Red Jain temple, which is historic and also has a 'Bird Hospital' Humayun tomb is a worth visiting place, (probably with Qutub Minar, ). These are few easily accessible place, which you can try on yourself, most are linked by the best mode of commuting (Metro). Else download ola and ubber as they are best way to travel by booking your own cab moreover they won't rip you since you are not a local. -Best way to commute, buses? metro? available at night? Metro safe-secured and Rapid, works from 5 AM up to ~ 12:30 AM.
