Both locations are good for a solo trip. If you are looking for experiencing snow-capped Himalayas then you should go to Sikkim. If you are looking for misty mountains then you should visit Meghalaya
Meghalaya is full of nature especially now for after rains have left the place more lush than needed. Transportation is quite easy in Meghalaya and stay is available abundant. Sikkim on the other hand is more of mountains, hill slopes and landscapes. Covered by snow peaks all through winters, transpotation is easy to reach too. As far as stay is concerned there are places to stay too., My choice would be Meghalaya.

You can plan to visit these places on your own. They are much in and around Kerala, except for Aadiyogi statue which is in Coimbatore. You could either use bus service or book a cab and plan to cover three to four places a day. Will share a tripoto link written by a traveller pertaining to their travel to Kerala see if it is suitable for your travel. https://www.tripoto.com/kerala/trips/all-you-need-to-know-about-planning-a-6-day-budget-trip-to-kerala Cab cost might range between 10k to 12k. If you are travelling by bus cost comes down, however many places might not have direct buses to the spot.
From Shillong Cherrapunji is 1 hour away, while Dawki is 2 hours away. Same way east Khasi hills are 1 hour away and west Khasi hills are 2 hours away. So my suggestion would be you staying in Shillong from where you could cover all these places at a minimal distance. For cabs kindly check with MMT and savaari.com. Goibibo too supplies cabs on rental basis.
North Sikkim packages depend on the time you travel because of the weather conditions. The packages are of 2 nights 3 days and 1 night 2 days. If you travel in a sharing vehicle it will cost around 3000-3500 per head and if you take a package including vehicle, food and stay it can be around 25k-30k. But again it will depend on the number of persons. Better to contact I travel agency before reaching Gangtok because you will be needing travel passes to visit North Sikkim and generally it takes one day to make the pass. If you don't contact any agency then take one day extra in hand to make the pass. There are a number of travel agencies in Gangtok you can contact them when you reach there.
