I guess Kolkata(WB)
upvoteUpvotemessageComment
The answer depends on how far in history we are looking back. If we look back till the British rule then it can be Kolkata. Agra can be termed too if we consider the rule of Babur. Even before that Iltutmish had Delhi as his capital. But back then 'India' represented many parts of modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan as well. So to say, If we consider only the modern day India then the first capital can be pointed as Kolkata which was later shifted to Delhi during 1911.

Namaste! You must visit safe and secure places and not very off beat location because when you are travelling first time you don't have enough confidence and experience. For example try to visit city area like Haridwar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Mussoorie because these are city area where you will find a lot of travellers and people. You will get hotel, hostel, Dharmshala etc very easily. You will get confidence and gather experience later on you can go mid to high terrain. The above cities I have given as example you can select any such safe and secure cities. While doing solo travelling please keep some safety measure and things with you. I hope this will help you. Thanks

Namaste! I guess there are few things you must keep in mind and you should take care of that. Your legal documents must be completed and in good condition. You must have all the valid and required documents with you. Then you must check transportation and accommodation availability. You must check basic rules and regulations of that country and location where you will visit. You must follow all the rules and regulations of that country laid by those country. You must check food option available. You can carry some remedy and quick ready type edible and stables like dry fruit etc.

Hey Sharad. You can travel solo to Gokarna, Kolad, Bir, Rishikesh. These are few of the best travel solo places!

Namaste Sharad! Sharad destination depends on your interest. I mean which type of traveller are you, I mean do you like to travel hills, mountains, beaches, forest, desert, temples etc. You need to decide first which type of destination do you want to visit then check your budget and time. How many days do you want to travel, how much expenses your pocket will allow. Check the destination distance from your current location how far is it. If you are beginner then start travelling known places where you will get all the facility later on when you feel comfort then you can go mid to high risk zone.

Chalocha trek in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh is great. I just finished it. It takes 3 days and is about 25kms. There is this amazing trekking guide called 'Trek with Tek' who did the most fantastic job organizing everything and leading the trek. I highly recommend it.
