Mahendragiri is the second highest peak of Orissa, and the trail is studded with some beautiful views, gurgling streams and lush green forests. Here is a short itinerary for your trek to Mahendragiri:
Reach Burakhat from Vizag. It will take around 7 hours via NH 16.
Make Burakhat your first base camp. There, you can stay at the Ashram located near Kunti Temple or choose to camp under the stars.
In the morning, begin your trek from Burakhat to the top of Mahendragiri, The distance is 5 km and it will take you around 2-3 hours to cover that distance.
If you want to stay at the top, you can take your tents along and camp at Mahendragiri.
If you are travelling to Akkalkot, you can stay at the following place:
1. Shree Swami Krupa Sadan - It will cost you around ₹1700 per night.
2. Hotel New Shiv Park and Lodging - Here, one room is of around ₹1200 per night.
