I want it to be a 30 days holiday and I want to cover almost every part of India that is less popular but very interesting. I have seen all the important places in India.(Taj mahal, etc) And this time I intend to travel by air and once or twice go for a train ride. I live in Hyderabad
Plan to Ladakh for 'a journey of a lifetime' and a mesmerising experience. Also its one of the best months to visit ladakh and its a rainshadow area, so no worry of getting the trip spoiled by rains.
I believe you'll be starting from Delhi by car. Spend a day or two in Manali. Helps you acclimatise better. You should visit the Key and Tabo monasteries. Kaza and Kibber villages should also make an appearance in your itinerary. Also, I would recommend visiting the Chandratal lake too.
Hi Rahul,
8 days are enough to explore Spiti by car from New Delhi, You can take this route: Delhi - Manali - Chandrataal - Kaza - Kibber - Dhankar and Hikkim and then return. You must keep a check on the weather, you might get rainfall till Manali in the monsoon season.
You must also keep in mind the altitude change that may cause severe headaches and nose bleeding to some, thus prepare before hand. Carry Diamox and take it before you start your journey from Manali. Alternatively, for better acclimatization you can choose the Shimla - Peo - Nako route. Go through the following articles for more details.
Thanks guys. Also can you tell me if there are sites where one can find travel buddies? To find like minded people who wants to do similar trips? Also is it safe to travel this way?
First of all be ready to explore. I've been doing solo trips from past 3 years. Wait and you will find a view , a place that will change you. See documentaries and vlogs of the people already been there and then you leave your home. Being a solo tripper and a photographer I never made any itinerary because I'm not bounded by anyone. It's just you and your trip and your camera stay as long as you want, travel as long as you want. Talk to other tourist, foreigners, locals. And they will help you out with most of your difficulties. Prefer places where most of the people don't go. Just be curious and cautious. That will do.
For a photographer .. this is the best thing . U will get to picture all the beauty there is it not a motivation. Start from.a place near to your home. Try to explore unexplored places ..underrated places .....capture that .. It will be ...treat to ....travel deewane ????
Hi Lavasa city, Lonavala, Khandala, Panchgani, Sinhagad, Karnala, Kolad are some of the well known places near Pune that you can make a road trip to. I'm attaching an article, you can go through it for more information.
Hi Yash, Uttarakhand right now doesn't look good because of the rains. Mainly because of the frequent landslides and road blocks, the roads are more prone to accidents these days. So I suggest you to wait for a couple of weeks, when the rains subside and the autumn colors bloom, it will be a perfect time for a trek. First week of September could be ideal for you.
Himachal is beautiful and picturesque. You just name the place and it will be already awesome.
You just have to pick place blindfolded and go there. You can choose from Manali, Shimla, Spiti, Dharmashala, Bir, Mandi, Kasol, Malana, Khirganga, Manikarna, MacLeod ganj,Parvati Valley and other countless no of places. Trust me you wont be disappointed
Himachal is amazing. All should visit Himachal. There's a soul which connects you totally.Shimla,Manali,Kullu,Dalhousie,Khajiar,Chambq,Kasol and the Spiti are the 'have to visit' places.
Hi Tanuj, Given the monsoon season I'd suggest to monitor the weather closely and to talk to the locals to know about the accessibility of the roads, before you go. Except the monsoons there is nothing to worry about visiting SIkkim in September.
Kerala is a beautiful holiday destination. It lies on Malabar Coast. And you can also taste the best of Malabar food. Kochi, Munnar and Alappuza are three best places to visit in Kerala. In Kochi you can visit
- Fort Kochi: It is a water bound region. - Mattacherry Palace: It is a beautiful palace built by Portuguese - Cherai Beach: Do some swimming, spot dolphins and collect some beautifull shells - St Francis Church: It was the first church built by Europeans in India. Munnar is known for its sincerity. https://www.funstay.in/homestay-in-munnar-kerala-india You can stay in beautiful homestay in admits greenery. Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Anamudi and the blossom international park are few popular tourist spots in Munnar. Enjoy in the house boat at Alappuzha.
Plan short trips around the place you are staying. Try more overnight trains/buses to save on accommodation cost. Book trains/flights in advance and keep eye out for any sale or offer on flights and hotels. Prefer fresh local food.
