I suggest you carry Indonesian Rupaiah with you. It will be very convenient during transactions, as the local vendors and shopkeepers are sometimes unwilling to take USD. Also it will be hassle free to use the Rupaiah straightaway rather than taking the hassles of checking how much USD you should be paying after conversion of local currency. So getting your money exchanged into Indonesian Currency from any exchange outlets, shops is the most wise thing to do.

You can start saving as low as 500 to 1000 per month and go on a trip you wish to.. Stay in hostels , dorms ..they are comparatively affordable and also gives a great experience to hear from other travellers and meet new people. Book your travel tickets prior and check for offers on MMT, Yatra ,OYO.. Here is how i did my solo trip within 8k Https://www.tripoto.com/trip/padharo-mhare-desh-rajasthan-in-less-than-8k-budget-5e13677683df2

Try saving on accomodation by staying at Airbnb or staying with locals.. before visiting any place try to make friends there; some people do offer accommodation to travelers. save on traveling by making bookings in advance so that you can get train tickets. also on so e routes flights are very cheap if you book in advance. wherever possible use local transport and avoid booking cabs. also, try to get as much info from locals as possible about local traveling. my experience says, if you plan your trip in advance you can save a great deal 👍. if you want any info about any specific location, do drop me a message, I will try to help you. happy traveling

I would not suggest you to stay for more than 2 days in KL as you will be wasting your time. KL has nothing much to offer than Batu Caves, KL tower, petronas, Bukit Bintang and Petaling street. All can be covered in 2 days max. If you are staying in KL more than don't forget to take one day trip to Melaka which is amazingly beautiful. You can add Penang in your itinerary this is the best time to visit Penang and i bet you won't regret going to Penang.

To add to Shubhi's suggestion, I would like to suggest two more places Langkawi and Penang. For what to and how to in KL, watch this https://youtu.be/7NXhfZ0Y7JY

Travelling in a group and solo both have advantages and disadvantages. it's totally depends upon you bro. pros of solo travellers. According to me it's cheap and you visit wherever you want and it's totally depends upon you and how much time you want to spend at that place. But in packages you have to plan according to them. you go on your own. In packages they help you with the visas. you can visit more place in less time because they already have plan. but it cost you little bit more.
