The closest railhead to Matheran is in Neral (21 kilometres). You can get on the Deccan Express from Mumbai or the Sahyadri Express from Pune; both ply every day. From Neral you will have to go to Matheran by road, which is a 30-minute journey. Many local trains on the Mumbai-Karjat route also stop at Neral. Another interesting but slow way to reach Matheran is to catch the Toy Train that departs from Neral. The journey takes about 2 hours but the ride is quite beautiful. During monsoons, the frequency of the trains reduces considerably so make sure to book well in advance. You can take Either 7:30AM train or 9:30AM. Hope it Helped. Thank you ✌️

Hi ... Madhura ... if you planning to visit Chopta then no need to worry । joshimath is other side chopta is other side । places like auli , velly of flowers,hemkund sahib gurdwara, badrinath temple will be effected by joshimath incident
but Chopta is towards kedarnath mean to say it's on different road you definitely can go for it । joshimath will not come in your way if you are going to chopta , tungnath temple, chandrashila peak etc ।
