Haflong is a beautiful hill station located in the state of Assam at the Dima Hasao District. During my visit, I had the opportunity to explore the Jatinga Bird Mystery Point, famous for Bird Suicide (to know more, watch my YouTube video), which is a popular tourist attraction in the area. This was the highlight of my tour. I also had the pleasure of staying with a local family who welcomed me with open arms and provided me with valuable guidance throughout my tour.
We tried a unique fruit called Selngih, which is indigenous to Northeastern areas. In addition to this, I also got to visit several villages of different tribes and had an incredible time exploring their culture and way of life. We ended our day by visiting Ethnic Village, where there are several tribal cottages and statues. Overall, my trip to Haflong was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to immerse myself in the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Assam.
The tribes of the Dima Hasao District are Karbi, Dimasa, Khasi, Hmar, Zeme Naga, Jaintia, etc. You will get to see their traditional cottages and Attire if you visit Ethnic Village.
If you want to visit the tribal areas, I would suggest you visit Zion village, Moulhoy Village, Fengpui village. There are a lot more villages in the areas nearby.
