When we think of summer holidays, Shimla & Manali are probably the first names to pop up in our minds!

However, Himachal Pradesh is currently facing a severe natural calamity. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning alert as flash floods, heavy rainfall, and landslides wreak havoc in the region.

The state, known for its stunning landscapes and popular tourist destinations, is now grappling with the devastating consequences of these relentless forces of nature. On June 25, 2023, there was a cloudburst in the state due to which it has been hit by landslides and flash floods, making it very difficult for the people who are currently there.

In case you're currently traveling in Himachal, do not panic and here is what you can do!

- Try to move to a safer place with the help of locales.

- Contact the nearest disaster relief services like a police station, a hospital or fire station.

- Do not try to exit via highways by yourself as more than 124 highways are blocked. Take assistance.

- Keep non perishable food in hand.

What exactly has happened?

Due to the cloudburst more than 124 highways are blocked currently due to land slides, floods and heavy rainfalls especially in Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu.
