Monsoon is the best time to get the best views of waterfalls. So, this time we decided to explore two Chhattishgarhi jewels: Chitrakote falls and Tirathgarh falls during Monsoon. We started our journey from Visakhapatnam. It was an overnight train journey to Jagdalpur by Kirandul express. We rented a car for two days to visit all the nearby tourist attractions along with the falls. Before going to our Resort, we visited nearby Bastar palace, Danteshwari Temple, Balaji temple, Dalpatsagar lake, then we headed to our resort- Dandami Luxury Resorts. After lunch, we took a stroll to Chitrakoot falls and spent the afternoon there enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the falls. Next day, after breakfast we checked out from the resort and headed towards Tirathgarh falls. On the way we stopped over some other spots such as suicide point with a spectacular view of a waterfalls along with green forested valley, Chitradhara falls. After visiting the Tirathgarh falls, the car dropped us at Jagdalpur Railway station and we headed back for Vizag by Kirandul express.

Chitrakote Waterfalls:

Chitrakote falls, also known as the "Niagra falls of India" is situated at Jagdalpur in Bastar district of Chhattishgarh on the Indravati river. During Monsoon the falls is undoubtedly in its best form offering us a wild but spectacular view. This is the widest waterfalls, 1/3rd of Niagra, of India making it the "Niagra of India".

Tirathgarh Waterfalls:

Situated on Mugabahar stream inside Kanger Valley National park, this beautiful cascade waterfalls is definitely a travellers' delight. Though the falls is inside the Kanger Valley national park, the national park was closed for the visitors because of monsoon time.

Kanger Valley National Park along with Kailash & Kotumsar caves:

The another adventurous experience one can explore in this trip is caving. But during monsoon times as the caves get filled with water, both the caves are kept closed for the visitors. These caves are located near Tirathgarh falls. Kotumsar cave is one of the longest caves in the world. exploring this cave is really a thrilling experience. Initially the entrance is broad enough, but when you start entering inside the cave it starts to become narrower, at some point there will be oxygen defficiency too. And there is no light inside the cave. The Kailash cave has a narrow entrance but inside one will get to see the stalactite and stalagmite formations. If you want to experience the thrill of caving, plan your trip in November. Though this time I couldn't visit the caves, but earlier I experienced the thrill of caving.

Dandami Luxury Resorts-Our Staycation:

We stayed in this beautiful Chitrakoot falls facing government resort called Dandami Luxury resorts operated by Chhattishgarh Government. This resort is situated at the left bank of Chitrakoot falls. This resorts consist of beautiful cottages(some are wooden and the best ones) with beautiful green lawns. The USP of this resorts is you can enjoy the beautiful view of Chitrakote falls from your balcony only!! And, if you can manage to get Room No 1, then you will get to see the falls from you bed too!! The wooden cottages are the best ones based on luxury as well as view.

The roads that cutting through the rain drenched lush green forests are best for long drive. Chhattisgarh too has so many natural beauties to offer to the wandering souls. We didn't feel unsafe and also didn't face any kind of hostile situation for which Chhattisgarh is infamous.

So Trippers, give it a shot and for any kind of info, I will be happy to help.
