Nubra valley - The grandiose Y-shaped Nubra Valley gives ways to rocky boulders and snow-clad mountains of Ladakh and Karakoram ranges that welcome every visitor with their arms wide open.

Just imagine a unique way to enrich your destiny… camping in an oasis under the stargazed sky, moonlight wine and dine and cool breeze bringing forth an intimacy! Nubra fulfills your desire.

Around 150 kms from Leh (5 hours), the route goes through extreme ups and downs. The famous Khardung La pass is on the way.

Started from Leh around 7 AM early morning; Reached Khardung La, the Highest Motorable Road in the world of about 18380 Feet pass by 10 AM.

Leh is at an elevation of approx. 11,500 feet. And Khardung La is at 18,500 feet. The distance between the two places is just 40 kms. So, you gain an immense amount of altitude in a very short span of time - the fastest way to get altitude sickness!

One can capture the beautiful views of Karakoram Range from the monastery.

But the main attraction of Diskit Gompa is the 32 meter high statue of Maitreya Buddha placed on a small hillock close to the Gompa. The statue overlooks the valley, facing down the Shyok River and is a striking example of skilled craftsmanship.

Hunder is a beautiful town, about 7 km away from Diskit. It was the capital of the erstwhile Nubra kingdom in the 17th century.

Between Diskit and Hunder lie several kilometres of massive white sand dunes that glisten in the sun, reminding you that you are in a high altitude desert.

Magical sand dunes of Hunder…
