24 hours in Milan

I recently visited Milan and spent 24 hours to explore the city and it didn't disappoint me at all. Many say there is nothing much to do in Milan but I don't agree with it anymore. Milan isn't just for high end fashion buyers but for explorers too. The city public transport is great to roam around(Bus, Subway, Trams) and costs 7.90 Euro for 24 hours. Here are the things I did and see in Milan and hope it helps the future travellers to explore the city at it's best:

1. Milan Duomo

The iconic Milano Cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete: construction begun in 1386 and the final details were completed in 1965. It's the largest church in Italian Republic. Amazing isn't it.

Note: You can go to Duomo terraces but you need to buy ticket for the same which cost around 20 euros per person.

2. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Do you know that Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the first mall in the world? It was first designed in 1861 and was finished in 1877.

3. Arco Della Pace

Like Berlin and Paris, Milan has it's own Arch. The arch, is built at the start of Corso Sempione, a road that connects Milan to Paris along the Simplon Pass, with the intention that Napoleon would pass through it on his way into the Italian city.

4. Castello Sforzesco Di Milano

Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci designed the interior of this magnificent Castle and he lived here for nearly 16 years while working for it. Sforzesco Castle was the largest citadel in Europe between the 16th and 17th centuries. The Castle has now been turned into seven specialized museums and art galleries.

Note: Museums aren't free and you need to buy tickets in advance.

5. Navigli Canals

Constructed in 1177, it became a navigable canal in 1272 and the first and largest canal in Europe. Today, it’s packed with bars, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. This is a familiar scene in Milan’s Navigli district on the last Sunday of every month, when the city’s 400-stall antiques market takes over.
